Fit

Improved fit over previous versions: wider toe box, midfoot and heel hold the foot well. Some runners with normal-width feet report lateral slippage on technical downhill sections.

Feel

Ego Max midsole with 30mm stack: soft but structured landing, with mild energy return. Ride feels surprisingly responsive relative to the stack size.

Durability

Vibram Megagrip outsole; manufacturer estimates 500+ miles. Simple mesh upper, viewed by some as functional but cheaply constructed.

Best for

Long-distance trail running across mixed terrain, from technical to fire road. Suited to runners loyal to zero drop and Altra's wide toe box who want a trail companion to the Torin.

Weak points

The $165 price point is disputed given the perceived quality of the upper materials. The low lateral heel counter irritates the ankle on some runners; the tongue is considered too bulky.
