Fit

True to size, medium width: suits most feet. The forefoot is improved over the first version, which was tight at the toe box; wide-footed runners should consider a half size up.

Feel

optiFOAM EVA midsole is firm and responsive, moderate 34/26 mm stack: ground connection is clear, with no mushiness. Cushioning holds up on short to mid distances; on long runs the compactness becomes noticeable.

Durability

Tested beyond 150 km with no significant wear on the Matryx (Kevlar) upper or Contagrip outsole. The expected weak point is the EVA midsole, which will break down before the upper or outsole.

Best for

Technical all-mountain trail, from daily training up to 50 km races on mixed terrain. Less suited for long distances on flat ground where more softness is needed.

Weak points

Stiff and hiking-shoe-like during the first 10–15 km before break-in. Slightly heavier than the previous version (292 g vs. 279 g). On wet rock, the Contagrip loses ground compared to premium compounds such as Vibram Megagrip.
