Norda 001A review: what runners say

Fit

Sizing up half a size is recommended by Norda and confirmed by testers. Generous toe box, midfoot with solid lockdown thanks to the gusseted lacing system; lightly padded heel cup can cause irritation on some runners.

Feel

Dense Arnitel TPEE midsole: moderate cushioning, balanced ride between protection and ground feel. More reactive and less austere than the Vibram on the 001, but does not reach the lightness of the 005.

Durability

Designed to exceed 1,000 km. Dyneema upper described as virtually indestructible. Vibram Megagrip Litebase outsole with 5 mm lugs: some runners report premature outsole wear relative to the upper, which tends to last longer.

Best for

All-day trail and ultras from 50K to 50 miles on varied terrain: hardpack, grass, forest floor. Not optimal in heavy mud due to lug height; acceptable on short road sections.

Weak points

Collar rand and tongue-to-upper junction can cause persistent irritation. Weight unchanged from the 001 despite updated materials; step-in comfort is not immediate and requires a break-in period.
