Asics Magic Speed 5 Women's

Asics Magic Speed 5 Women's review: what runners say

Fit

True to size, with good lockdown at the heel and midfoot. No wide options and no separate men's/women's last.

Feel

Low and responsive feel, close to a race flat. Performs well at threshold pace and faster; at easy pace it feels firm and offers limited protection.

Durability

ASICSGRIP outsole with thicker rubber coverage compared to pure race shoes; outsole designed for repeated training use. Expected mileage not quantified in sources.

Best for

Speed and workout-specific shoe: threshold runs, intervals, races from 5K to half marathon. Particularly suited to heel and midfoot strikers; forefoot strikers get less benefit from the platform geometry.

Weak points

Some runners find it too firm at easy paces, with a value proposition that is not entirely convincing at $170–180 compared to the Meta Speed series available at a discount. Energy return is limited by the lower FF Blast Plus layer relative to full-racing foams.
