Fit

Slim last, narrower than the previous version. Runners with wide feet should size carefully; trying a half size up from their usual Nike size is recommended.

Feel

ZoomX heel is soft and responsive, forefoot stabilized by the textile wrap. Efficient on hardpack and gravel; the Flyplate stiffens power transfer without eliminating foam energy return.

Durability

Vibram Megagrip with approximately 3 mm lugs; at least one user reports around 1,500 miles on Ultrafly models overall. Outsole is versatile on asphalt and hardpack trail, insufficient in deep mud.

Best for

Racing and long runs on non-technical trail, gravel, and road-to-trail. Optimal on fast singletrack and courses like Western States or Black Canyon; not recommended for technical, rocky, or muddy terrain.

Weak points

The stiff Flyplate destabilizes on lateral and off-camber slopes, with arch and metatarsal fatigue on technical terrain. Reduced ground feel; high price relative to actual use case.
