New Balance Fresh Foam 680 v9

New Balance Fresh Foam 680 v9 review: what runners say

Fit

True to size, designed for a medium-neutral foot. Heel hold is not particularly secure without heel-lock lacing; also available in wide and extra-wide.

Feel

Moderate cushioning, not soft: provides a natural, controlled ride with enough dampening for easy runs up to 8–10 km. Not suited for those seeking high energy return or high stack.

Durability

Rubber outsole with an estimated life of 300 to 500 km before noticeable midsole compression. Upper considered durable, but less robust than premium models in the line.

Best for

Daily trainer for easy runs, walking, and everyday use. Suited for beginner neutral runners or casual runners with low weekly mileage. Not suitable for long distances or speed work.

Weak points

Limited breathability reported by multiple sources. Lower energy return compared to the v8 and suboptimal heel hold without heel-lock lacing.
