Fit

Runs short by a half size, sometimes a full size: European sizing that works against American and Anglo-Saxon foot shapes. Slim profile from toe to heel; the standard model offers slightly more volume than the Boa version.

Feel

EVA midsole with polyurethane inserts: firm, protective ride with good ground feel. No softness or reactivity of modern foams; runners seeking plush cushioning will find the shoe inadequate.

Durability

Consensus estimate 500–700 km, with optimistic projections of 700+ km. Frixion XF 2.0 outsole rates A-grade for grip and durability; upper built without compromise. 3.5 mm lugs insufficient in deep mud or heavy snow.

Best for

Technical, rocky, dry terrain; steep ascents and descents; races and long mountain efforts above treeline. Not suited as a daily trainer on mixed terrain or mud.

Weak points

Narrow fit and low volume cause forefoot discomfort on outings beyond one hour. The Boa version struggles to lock down the heel on climbs despite excellent midfoot and forefoot lockdown.
