Hoka Clifton 10 review: what runners say
Fit
True to size with a wider forefoot compared to previous versions. Runners who had fit issues with the Clifton 8 and 9 will find more toe room without needing to size up.
Feel
Smooth, stable ride courtesy of the MetaRocker, but the CMEVA compound offers no energy return: predictable, unengaging underfoot feel. Firmer than the 9, with drop increased from 5 to 8 mm, which alters the character of the toe-off.
Durability
Wear visible on the outsole as early as 110–150 km, concentrated on the lateral heel and exposed midsole. Estimated lifespan around 500 km, beyond which grip is noticeably compromised.
Best for
Daily trainer for easy and long runs, heel strikers up to 185 lbs, paces between 7:15 and 9:40 min/mi. Suitable for extended walking and casual use as well. Not recommended for runners seeking pace variety or the original Clifton character.
Weak points
CMEVA compound considered outdated versus similarly priced competitors: no energy return, ride that some find flat or overly firm. Weight increase relative to the 9 flagged as a drawback. Removal of the gusseted tongue criticized across multiple sources.
