Fit

True to size across the full range tested. Toe box sufficiently wide for foot swelling on long efforts; narrow heel that can slip on demanding steep descents.

Feel

Generous cushioning with a crisp energy return at sustained paces; the dual-layer FF Turbo/FF Blast Plus rewards forefoot and midfoot strikers. At easy paces the heel feels compressive and poorly controlled.

Durability

AsicsGrip outsole with 3 mm lugs: low wear rate, estimated max around 500 km. Upper holds up well (no signs of wear after 130 km); the long-term unknown is the lower FF Blast Plus, which already shows surface breakdown in early testing.

Best for

Race and quality training shoe for runnable trail and mixed surfaces, dry or moderately wet. Ideal for trail marathons and ultras on non-technical courses; not suited for deep mud, wet rock, or highly uneven terrain.

Weak points

Insufficient stability on uneven terrain and steep descents, especially for heel strikers. Outsole limited in true mud: 3 mm lugs don't bite enough on slippery surfaces.
